Open Pit Supervisor

The Role
Reporting to the Mine Manager on site we are looking for a dynamic suitably experienced individual to join our
Mt Carlton operation in the role of Open Pit Supervisor. The Open Pit Supervisor is responsible for identifying
and providing recommendations for any evidential or foreseen non-compliance to the mining contract. You
must also be familiar with the Mining schedules to measure actuals against forecasts. Direct reports for the
position will include all Pit Contractors. The position is newly created and represents a fantastic opportunity to

To be Successful
The Open Pit Supervisor must be self-motivated and be able to work effectively with minimal
supervision. Be a lateral thinker, who is always looking for a more efficient and safer way to do
things. Possess excellent forward planning skills to minimise down time and maximise resource
utilisation

The Open Pit Supervisor must have the following experience;

• At least 10 years’ experience in Open Pit mining Including time spent on various heavy machinery 
• Previous experience supervising Pit operations, including contactor management experience. 
• Comprehensive understanding of a contractor “claims” mentality 

In order to be successful in this role we envisage that the successful candidate will use their significant industry
experience and capabilities to;

• Ensure that all staff and contractors under your supervision can operate the mine in accordance with, 
• the site management systems and the mining ACT and Regulations. 
• You also have the operational responsibility to ensure that the monthly plan provided by management is 
• implemented and that targets are met or exceeded. 
• Know the relevant parts of the Safety Management System (SMS) and comply with those parts, 
• Be a mentor and leader for people under your supervision and lead by example, 
• Take any reasonable and necessary course of action to prevent exposing yourself or others to 
• unacceptable risks, 
• Pass on to persons, information that they need to know to fulfil their obligations or duties under the Act, 
• the Regulations or the SMS, or to protect themselves from risk of injury or illness. 
• Report EOM contractor claims and reconciliation to Management
