Senior Mine Surveyor

The Role
Reporting to the Mine Manager on site we are looking for a dynamic suitably experienced individual to join
our Mt Carlton operation in the role of Senior Mine Surveyor. The Senior Mine Surveyor is responsible for
providing accurate and timely survey data for safety, mine planning and cost/ claim control purposes. You
will also be expected to implement sound surveying protocol to the operation start up including generation
of survey base control station. Direct reports for the position will include the Open Pit Surveyor. The
position is newly created and represents a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive and dynamic mid–tier

To be Successful
The Senior Mine Surveyor must be self-motivated and a self-starter. The incumbent must also have the
ability to communicate effectively with persons in all levels of the organisation. Leadership and mentoring is
considered to be of the highest importance with effectively filling this role. All work must be completed to a
high standard and incorporate sound surveying practice. Being a lateral thinker and is always looking for a
better way to do things is crucial to the position.

The Senior Mine Surveyor must have the following experience;

• At least 8 years’ experience at operating mine sites 
• A proven track record in a similar Open Pit role. 
• Be state registered or a willingness to achieve registration 
• Advanced user of Surpac mining software. 
• Previous gold experience would be preferred.

• Maintain a sound understanding of the legislative and HSE System requirements as they apply to 
• the role. 
• Implementation of required control stations and other site reference points 
• Surface prism monitoring 
• Be the champion for and drive continuous improvement throughout the operation, 
• Promote a safe and healthy work culture, through the Mt Carlton safety management system, 
• Manage project work as required, 
• Manage the survey department’s administrative requirements, 
• Mentor junior staff and contractors, and act as a leader within the Mining team
