CITIC Pacific Mining is developing the Sino Iron Project, a world class, large-scale magnetite iron ore project located at Cape Preston, 100km south west of Karratha in Western Australia. The approximate $5 billion project has a current mine life of 25 years and is the largest magnetite project under construction in Australia, and the first to include large scale downstream processing.
The project involves construction of significant infrastructure including a magnetite concentrator, pellet plant, port facilities, a combined cycle power station, and a large desalination plant.
The Opportunity
CITIC Pacific Mining is currently looking for an Operation Audit Manager. This is a permanent position based in our Perth CBD corporate Head Office with a requirement to carry out site visits for about 1 to 2 weeks per month with appropriate time in lieu granted for concurrent weekends and public holidays spent during the site visits. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced operational mining professional to make a difference to the world class large scale Sino Iron project.
The Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Manager – Group Internal Audit you will be responsible for providing independent and objective assurance to assist management in accomplishing business objectives by evaluating the mining and processing risks, internal controls and operational effectiveness. You will plan, manage, execute and report on the operational audits, and lead the audit team in risk based operational audits.
The Requirements
You will be degree qualified in Mining Engineering or other relevant related fields with strong knowledge of open pit mining operations and downstream processing in the iron ore industry.
You will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.
It is desirable that you will have internal audit experience and qualifications in the auditing or QA/QC field, however on the job internal audit training will be provided.
- A WA manual driver's licence is essential.
