Pit Technician

The Role 
Reporting  to the Geological Superintendent & Senior Mine Surveyor on site we are  looking  for a dynamic 
suitably  experienced  individual  to  join  our  Mt  Carlton  operation  in  the  role  of  Pit  Technician.  The  Pit 
Technician  is responsible  for supporting  the mine Survey & mine Geology  functions of  the operation. The 
position is newly created and represents a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive and dynamic mid–tier 
miner  that  will  offer  the  successful  applicant  the  chance  to  be  part  of  an  exciting  growth  focused

The Pit Technician must be self-motivated and a self-starter. The  incumbent must also have  the ability  to 
communicate  effectively  with  persons  in  all  levels  of  the  organisation.  You  will  be  open  minded  and 
enthusiastic  to  learn new skills  in a  technical discipline, while  leading by example as one of  the company 
representatives working in the Pit on a day to day basis.  
 
The Pit Technician must have the following experience; 

• Previous Open cut mining experience, or time spent around various heavy machinery 
• Previous experience in Survey work and or Mine Geology  (desirable) 
• S1, S2, S3 
• Previous  experience  in  open  pit mining,  survey work, Experience  and  or  a  keen  interest  in mine 
• geology 

In order  to be  successful  in  this  role we envisage  that  the  successful  candidate will use  their significant industry experience and capabilities to; 

• Assist  the Mining, Survey and the Geology department on day  to day activities and ensure  targets 
• or schedule works are completed in set time frames.  
• Follow the site Safety Management system at all times and report any noncompliance.   
• Ensure all reporting is accurate and delivered on time. 
• Develop rapport with the Open Pit operators, staff and management is essential 
• Excellent oral presentation skills, 
• Good written communication skills. 
• Work un-supervised and maintain good reporting skills. 
• Be self-motivated and be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.  
• Be able to work safely and follow site procedures and Safety Management systems. 
• Good reporting skills and be able to document this information. 
• Be willing to undertake night shift rosters as required
