Regional Manager

Our client is a medium sized software provider for the African Mining Industry.

The regional Manager will be in charge of the South African office.

This role will be responsible for all operations from the Johannesburg office.
  • The position also plays an integral part in the marketing, promotion and sales of the various products in the African market.
  • The role involves managing, planning and coordinating with the need to exercise tacit interaction skills in dealing with various functional groups, developing marketing and sales plans, suggesting innovative solutions, mentor staff and performing critical customer relationship management.

Experience Required

  • Knowledge of and ability to use all our clients products
  • Strong IT and mining background and experience
  • Geology, Geostatistics and / or Mining Engineer degree (preferable)
  • Strong management experience
  • Extensive business experience in the region
  • Demonstrated successful sales record
  • An established network within the region

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Management of the African Business Unit
  • Accountable for the effective management of the Johannesburg office and staff
  • Legal representative for the client
  • Maintain the day to day business operations in the region
  • Analyse issues and create methodical approaches to enhance the operations efficiency
  • Delivery of reports as required by Corporate Management and the Board
  • Compile business plans for the region that are in line with the clients overall business plan
  • Implement the clients business plan(s) in the region
  • Compile and approve local company policies and rules in country

Financial Management

  • Compile regional budgets and manage expenditure
  • Responsible for attaining African sales budgets
  • Authorization of discounts greater than 10%
  • Authorization of commissions and bonuses for the African team

Commercial Management

  • Ensure that all commercial decisions are in compliance with local laws
  • Promotion of our client’s products and services in the African market
  • Build local networks and potential client bases; ensure accurate data is compiled in the CRM
  • Manage the writing of proposals and contracts for all sales in the region, ensure they comply with company policy
  • Track regional sales and payments
  • Attend and organise seminars, conferences and training sessions
  • Assist with compiling market information on the region and liaise with product marketing managers

Team Management

  • Ensure safe work practices and emergency response procedures are in place, as part of your duty of care for all staff in the region
  • Manage staff from all African offices; provide ongoing support and management to regional team
  • Provide necessary training and mentoring for local staff
  • Coordinate and update staff if relevant issues through regular meetings and assign resources
  • Ensure that deadlines are consistently met by all staff
  • Ensure performance reviews and performance management is carried out for all staff on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure staff have access to business information and are aware of their obligations
  • Manage the recruitment, retention and remuneration of African staff; as well as set KPIs
  • Keep up-to-date and ensure compliance with local labour, health and safety and operations laws

Miscellaneous

  • Work cooperatively with Corporate Management and key managers both in all regions to maximise communication efficiency within the organisation
  • Participate in Software Functionality Review Panels
  • Some travel will be required for this position
  • Other tasks as designated by your Managers
