Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12;
  • Elementary Mine surveyors certificate
  • Total of three to five years Open Cast Surveying experience;
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Micro Station, Trimble;
  • Minimum of one year People Management experience;
  • A valid code B/EB drivers license

Job Specification

Key Performance Areas Include, Inter Alia:

  • Survey all infrastructure such as dumps, stockpiles, pits and blasts in accordance with survey processes and procedures;
  • Perform detailed stake out operations as and when required and in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and processes;
  • Execute profiling operations in accordance with policies and procedures;
  • Record, download, calculate and plot work completed each day;
  • Distribute of surveyed information via e-mail and saving information in allocated files;
  • Complete check lists for vehicle and survey equipment;
  •  Maintain internal and external relations, including the interface with external providers responsible to ensure departmental needs are met and employees are satisfied;
  • Provide relevant and specialised technical support applicable stakeholders;
  • Adhere to requests from internal customers such as Geology, Engineering and Mining to measure infrastructure or mining activities to enable informed decision making
  • Deliver accurate data and results to internal and external customer timely
  • Ensuring working area and equipment are clean and safe at all times;
  • Complete risk assessment at working area;
  • Ensure and comply with safety standards, guidelines, policies and procedures;
  • Enhance safety awareness throughout the working area;
  • Compile and complete month en reports or certificates on a monthly basis
  • Ensure all declared stockpiles are measured and pit face monitoring and reporting is done accurately
  • Ensure information is kept on system to generate daily reports in accordance with statutory requirements and blasting plans;
  • Complete preparatory duties accurately.
  • Ensure survey equipment is calibrated, clean and in good working condition.
  • Manage performance of work team to achieve section’s business objectives including effective communication of management information and team needs
  • Supervise and plan subordinate activities to ensure effective task execution and departmental operations;
  • Ensure instructions are clear, precise and understandable
  • Continuously provide swift and precise feedback to subordinates and check understanding prior to work allocation and task execution;
  • Provide guidance and advice where necessary;
  • Supervise subordinates key performance areas by setting and monitoring performance standards and taking action to correct deviations to achieve sections gaols;
  • Responsible for managing training for subordinates against development plans and performance contract;
  • Ad hoc, any other reasonable duties as and when requested from time to time.
