Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Essential);
• Competent A Surface mining Certificate (Essential);
• Blasting certificate in Surface mining or equivalent MAQ qualification (Essential);
• Certificate or Diploma in Surface mining (Recommended);
• Certificate in First Line Supervision (one year certificate) or equivalent (Recommended).

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years operational general surface mining experience - Control room / Quality control / Machine operator (Load and Haul or Auxiliary equipment operator);
• Minimum of one (1) year team / project leader / supervisor experience in a surface mining environment;

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

• Computer literacy - Intermediate user of MS Word and Excel, Outlook and JD Edwards or similar system;
• Functional knowledge;
• Load and haul;
• Drill and blast;
• Grade control;
• Geoscan readings.

Management skills

• Legislation knowledge;
• Leadership skills;
• Planning and organising skills;
• Verbal and written communication skills;
• Quality orientation competencies;

Other Requirements

• A Valid Code B/EB driver's licence

Job Specification

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

To plan and organise shift resources in order to execute the load and haul process in accordance with the daily pit schedule, which includes:

• Load and haul operations;
• Reporting;
• Staff supervision;
• SHERQ and compliance;
• Work Ethics.

APPOINTMENT

• Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.

OTHER INFORMATION

• The successful incumbent will be appointed subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996 and meeting the requirements of the Company's Code of Practice - Minimum standards of fitness to perform work at a Mine. 
• He/she may also undergo a psychometric assessment.
• The above mentioned position is C4 on the Patterson band grading system. 
• The successful candidate that conforms to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading.
• Should the successful candidate not conform with all said requirements and experience, but are nonetheless regarded as suitable for appointment to the position, he/she will be appointed on a lower more appropriate grading, until successful achievement of required competencies and skills.
• Appointment of successful applicants in positions will be done in line with the Employment Equity plan of the mine.
