Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Blasting certificate or equivalent MQA qualifications (Essential);
• Grade 12 (Essential);
• Certificate in Management Development / First Line Supervisory (One year certificate) (Essential);
• National Diploma in Mining (Added advantage);
• Explosive Engineering Certificate (Added advantage);
• Mining Mine Overseer Certificate (Essential).

Experience

• Minimum of eight (8) years operational surface mining experience (Drilling operations);
• Minimum of one (1) year line management surface mining experience (Superintendent capacity);
• Minimum of three (3) years line management surface mining experience (Supervisory capacity);
• Minimum of two (2) years operational surface mining experience (Operator capacity).

• Computer literacy - Advanced user of MS Office Suite; JD Edwards and Achiever or equivalent systems;
• Technical knowledge;

Job Specification

kEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

To ensure safe, efficient, and cost effective drilling and blasting operations in order to achieve the operations production targets as per Mine Plan, which includes:

• Drilling operations;
• Charging and blasting operations;
• Consumables management;
• People management;
• Budget and cost control;
• Staff supervision;
• SHERQ and compliance;
• Work Ethics.

APPOINTMENT

• Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.

OTHER INFORMATION

• The above mentioned position is D1 on the Patterson band grading system. 
• The successful candidate that conforms to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading.
• Should the successful candidate not conform with all said requirements and experience, but are nonetheless regarded as suitable for appointment to the position, he/she will be appointed on a lower more appropriate grading, until successful achievement of required competencies and skills.
• Appointment of successful applicants in positions will be done in line with the Employment Equity plan of the mine.
