General Manager / Ops Manager

Introduction

A vacancy for position of General Manager / Operations Manager exists at a minning manafacturing company in Johannesburg – South Africa.

The company provides solutions for fluids handling (oil, grease, water, diesel etc) to the Mining, Civils and Heavy Industry Sectors. The Company has been around for some 25 years and is well known for manufacturing off highway service units for the mines.

Minimum Requirements

• Has a Bcom, Btech or equivalent
• A person who has experience or business network in the Mining environment in South Africa
• Minimum 3 years experience at a senior managerial level
• A strong leader with good motivational and people skills
• Be commercially astute with integrity
• An individual with passion to solve and design solutions
• An individual who is driven to produce excellence and is proud to deliver the best to his clients
• An individual who enjoys a hands-on/technical approach

Job Specification

JOB SPECIFICATION

• Applicants with experience in design and manufacture of mining equipment especially off highway equipment used in open cast type mining will be highly considered.
• This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and may in future be required to report to a board of directors.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the business which would include sales growth, technical innovation, financial control and production commitments.
• The general manager will need to be energetic and lead this innovative company to new heights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Maintain a strategic lead on the products being offered in the niche market currently occupied by the company
• Maintain the systems and procedures in place within the current business model and to improve and implement the systems and procedures to better standards
• To ensure the current growth of the company is maintained and together with the management team & consider other growth opportunities available
• Effectively lead, manage and motivate the existing team and to add value and professionalism to the team where required
