Operations Manager: Power Stations & Oxygen

A South African company involved in mining, energy, chemicals, and synfuels is looking for an Operations Manager: Power Stations & Oxygen (Mpumalanga).

Minimum Requirements

• B. Eng / B. Sc. Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• 15 - 20 years relevant experience in the power station industry

Knowledge/Skills/Requirements:

• Government Certificate of Competency (GCC)
• Relevant business management qualification
• Specific experience required: Power station and plant operation experience 15-17 years and Management experience 10 years

Knowledge of:

• Machines, equipment, materials and operating practices of the power stations and oxygen plant
• Principles, methods, procedures, tools, and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of power plant mechanical systems.
• Occupational hazards connected with power operations and necessary safety precautions.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and optimise the power stations & oxygen plant performance to enhance the stability and operational performance
• Develop, maintain & monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of operations business strategies & processes to achieve production targets
• Developing and implementing safe work procedures & operating instructions
• Effective risks assessments & adequate risk mitigation plans in place
• Enables statutory compliance & governance
• Prepare and control annual maintenance capital and operating budgets
• Execution of projects within budget & schedule
• Operations excellence sponsor for power stations and oxygen environment
• Manage interfaces with the rest of the plant operation value chain and functional fraternity
• Lead & manage multi-functional teams
• People Management, including the development & coaching of team members
• Manage environmental footprint
