Job Description

  • [Company] located in Decatur, AL has an opening for an experienced Production Supervisor.
  • The successful candidate should be able to direct and motivate team members in their daily work across cells (including coordinating work and addressing employee issues) utilizing EBS tools to address daily issues with production orders, quality concerns, and drive continuous improvements in assigned areas of supervision.

Some key skills for this position:

  • General Supervision and Leadership – Schedule workflow with team members to meet production requirements, including any necessary overtime. Spend a significant amount of time on the floor auditing processes and implementing corrective actions. Administer plant policies and procedures consistently and fairly. Ensure proper training and documentation of processes, job functions, safety, quality and housekeeping. Train, evaluate, coach and develop subordinates to help them meet established objectives and improve their overall performance and competence. Communicate effectively with internal suppliers, customers, and other shifts in the department to ensure production schedules are met and quality product delivered. Monitor accuracy of reporting including timekeeping, attendance, and production records. Understand, administer and support company policies, programs and initiatives including, but not limited to: EEO, Workplace Safety, Harassment Free Workplace, Substance Abuse, Ethics, etc.
  • Make continuous improvements throughout the production process – Identify areas of opportunity regarding order flow, manufacturing process, etc. Work with multiple areas/departments to provide solutions to issues identified including 8D teams and Individual Corrective Actions. Develop and implement solutions to address both root cause fixes and immediate containment.
  • Promotes Teaming – Promotes teaming in order to solve issues; serves on teams to address issues. Encourages teamwork and engages all team members respectfully in order to achieve positive solutions.
  • Safety - Promotes accident prevention fundamentals and processes to provide an accident- and injury-free workplace. Deals appropriately with both unsafe conditions and behaviors using a Job Safety Analysis Document. Provide accident reporting per internal process. Address all known safety issues immediately upon observance.
  • Housekeeping - Promotes a clean and orderly workplace by adhering to company housekeeping standards. Promotes and participates in shop 5S activities. Responsible for assisting pertinent 5S teams in attainment of 5S goals.
  • Quality - Promotes adherence to quality system policy and procedures to provide defect-free products. Provides process improvements to correct deficiencies and resolve problems.
  • Cost Control - Keeps waste (scrap, rework, supplies, tooling, etc.) to a minimum. Adheres to all governing procedures. Addresses all causes of nonconformances.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or supply chain management
  • One year experience in manufacturing
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Position Criteria:

  • Experience in a manufacturing setting or relevant intern or co-op experience
  • Ability to lead and function in a high performance work team focused on exceeding expected results through motivating and engaging employees
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and project management skills and applications
  • Proficient computer-systems knowledge and application skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering
  • Supervisor experience
  • Experience with CNC Programming and metal cutting
  • PLC programming experience
  • Process failure mode and effect analysis
  • Six Sigma knowledge
  • Green Belt/Black Belt certification
