Job Description:
All qualified candidates MUST have the following:

  • B.S. degree with concentration in Engineering or environmental, health and safety.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in EH&S in an industrial environment and proven leadership ability.
  • Excellent communications skills are necessary since the incumbent has to develop programs and procedures and train employees.
  • This position requires knowledge of OSHA, & EPA regulations and the ability to interpret government regulations and interface effectively with state and federal agencies as well as senior management and all other employees.
  • Attendance at seminars and other informational meetings is important to insure that he/she remains current on Environment, Health, & Safety issues.
  • Work under the general direction of the Manager Corporate Security & Environment with minimum direction on a wide variety of technical assignments within the environmental, health and safety (EH&S) disciplines. Responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance of health & safety initiatives and, implement government & other regulations to site operations. Interact effectively with health & safety agencies, site employees, visitors, suppliers, corporate and site management.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Interpret applicable federal and state laws, regulations and orders as they pertain to all health and safety issues in the assigned facilities
  • Plan, design and implement policies and procedures that ensure compliance to appropriate laws, statutes or regulations and Siemens corporate directives
  • Develop, implement and conduct health and safety training programs as required to comply with Siemens directive and maintain OHSAS certification
  • Participate/guide in risk assessment as required for new or revised processes introduced in facility (manufacturing, shipping & warehousing, building, engineering labs.) operations
  • Ensure necessary and timely health and safety record keeping, and submit report to federal/local authorities and Siemens corporate, as required.
  • Provide innovative solutions to continually reduce reportable incidence and lost work days to meet objectives and targets as set by management team.
  • Launch and maintain safety-training initiatives to comply with OSHA, corporate and BT requirements and develop zero harm culture on BT campus and other assigned facilities
  • Investigate/review all accidents, conducts root cause analysis, writes reports, and determine and implement preventative measures
  • Maintain OSHA logs; and ensure postings as required.
  • Ensure workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions.
  • Develop housekeeping guidelines and perform periodic inspection to assure compliance
  • Participate and respond to internal/external inspections and audits by regulatory agencies and corporate EH&S.
  • Work with Risk Management and insurance carriers to eliminate any EH&S issues that may lead to increased coverage costs.
  • Publish management updates and metrics designed to initiate management awareness and participation.
  • Serves as the voice of authority and resource by interpreting regulations and proposed legislation, and provides management with advice and recommendations on changes in government regulations, challenges to company policy
