Construction Engineer III (Field Engineer)

Job Description

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard construction engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using solid engineering judgment in making decisions
• Performs work involving conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively complex features for which precedents exist
• Supervises or coordinates the work of draftsmen, technicians, and other personnel who provide assistance on specific assignments
• Remains knowledgeable of requirements for applicable codes and standards on a project
• Receives and distributes project design documents, often supervising the field engineering office
• Manages the site survey and provides horizontal and vertical control
• Assists craftsmen, foreman, and project supervisor with regard to construction-related issues identified on drawings
• Often performs constructability assignments in the home office
• Coordinates system completion and turn-over with regard to start-up activities for assigned systems
• Quantity Tracking and Takeoff – Bridges, CIP Walls, CPB
• Subcontractor invoicing and logistical support
• RFIs, Submittals, Materials
• Project Wide Primary and Secondary responsibilities on some vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Daily, weekly, and project wide Cost analysis
• Three Week schedule creation – Technical and historical support for Project P6 Schedule.
• Logistical and Technical Support to Superintendents and Foremen
• Eloquence and Diplomacy needed to deal with Public, Clients, RR personnel, and Field Staff

Basic Job Requirements

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical project experience
• Typically has 6-10 years of project experience
• Structures Field Engineer Experience
• Willingness to work in aggressive Design/Build atmosphere
