Job Description:
Jobs are available in our Mixing Facility and Hose Manufacturing.
Brief descriptions of the main positions follow:
- A Rubber Extruder Operator is required to run an extruder.
- Duties include set up, changing and centering dies, changing screen packs and pan gears. Once the extruder is set up the operator will be responsible for adjusting the equipment settings, speed and temperatures for the best mix of production and quality. Extruded hose is measured using drops, calipers, thickness gauges and tapes. Operation of a computer is required to retrieve specifications, enter production and measurement data and print identification tickets. The operator will move pans of hose product using an overhead hoist. In addition, operators will be trained in all other jobs in the department.
- A Mill Operator is required to sheet and strip hot rubber compound from the mill onto a festooner. Duties include setting the mills and cutters, collecting rubber samples for testing, and maintaining the slab dip for consistency. Each batch of rubber compound should be properly identified and the mill kept clean. Operation of a computer is required to retrieve specifications and to enter production and measurement data. In addition, operators will be trained in all other jobs in the department.
- Start rates will range from $10.50 to $13.00 per hour. Increases occur as qualifications for departmental jobs are obtained. After qualification for the Cover Extruder or the Mill rates will increase to a minimum of $16.22 and rates will increase to $17.83 after qualifications are obtained for all departmental jobs.
Job Requirements:
The following are the requirements for these positions:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work overtime
- Commitment to work off-shifts for several years
- Ability to work Saturdays and occasional Sundays
- Standing on your feet for the entire shift
- Ability to work in the heat during the summer
- In addition, the following are areas which are beneficial to performing the job:
- Experience in manufacturing
- Experience operating rubber extruders, rubber mixing equipment or heavy equipment
- Related technical or trade school
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Experience working in teams
Other Skills:
- Basic computer skills, use of measuring equipment, basic math.
