Lead Engineers - Tower Design and Foundation Design

Client:

Our client is one of the largest engineering and construction firms performing work in Canada and internationally and ranks among the top ten in the world. Our client has a successful track record in the execution of hydroelectric projects that include pre-feasibility and feasibility assessments followed by detailed design and construction.

Position Overview:

This is a truly a historic and iconic Power/Infrastructure project that will be talked about for decades. The successful incumbent will be responsible for scoping, defining and establishing the design criteria for the design of Transmission Towers associated with a 1,200 KM stretch. Assignment conditions will be discussed with candidates who are short listed into the interview process.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the discipline engineering team to ensure that all technical documentation is executed in accordance with the project requirements for quality, while respecting the pre-established constraints for budget (capital and services costs) and schedule.
• Maintain an ongoing working relationship with the Company Engineering Manager, Area Managers and with the key Procurement, Controls and Construction team members.
• Adhere to the Company’s requirements for the management of Engineering Services including reviews, design verification, Technical and Design Integrity requirements, constructability and operability and maintainability.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of fifteen years of related experience in the design of Transmission Towers, Systems and/or foundations
• Professional Engineering designation
• Experience working in a Engineering Consulting, Utility or Manufacturing environment
• The successful candidate will have significant design experience focused on Transmission Towers
• Significant knowledge of latticed towers and have worked on large scale transmission line projects
• Experience leading a team of engineers
• Strong communication skills, able to play an active role in design and client meetings when discussing progress, milestones and challenges
