Item/BOM Administrator
Position Summary
- Controller of the Item Master within the MS Dynamics AX ERP System. Items shall be created and maintained based upon master engineering drawings and bills of material as well as special sales order, supply chain, and quality requirements. Direct involvement with all line functions in regards to a manufacturing facility will be required, when required by the APD.
Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Deliverables
- Requires a direct working relationship with all line functions to create and maintain standard and project items in the AX Item Master.
- In accordance with documented input from the following line functions, the required item data shall be entered and maintained within the Item Master:
- Engineering: Establish new Item Master data in accordance with engineering drawings and bills of material which are the master design documents.
- Purchasing: Establish buyer, costing data, economic stock, and ordering data.
- Supply Chain: Establish inventory control, warehouse, location, shelf life, phantom codes, purchase/manufacture, and subcontracts.
- Quality: Establish standard inspection requirements and frequency.
- Accounting: Perform costing review.
- Manufacturing: Establish routings, instructions, fixtures, and tooling.
- Sales and Applications: Establish special sales order requirements such as blade settings, witness/hold points, special NDE, paint requirements, 10CFR50 App. B requirements, and CGID.
- Responsible for creating new items and maintaining existing items through documented requests from all line functions.
- Partners with all central functions such as Quality, Engineering, Finance, IT, and HR to ensure that enabling strategies and tactics are in place and are consistent with broader business strategies and tactics.
- Contributes to the pre and post-metric KPI’s and skills to ensure the successful use of the MS AX solution in APD.
- Establishes and drives process improvements to ensure common KPI’s, documented process and change controls, and skill knowledge transfer.
- Represents the Company with customers and business partners.
- Ensures safe work practices are followed by consistently attending required EH&S training for all staff members, reporting all safety incidents and near misses on a timely basis and maintaining the goal of “zero” lost time incidents.
- Engage in continuous improvement for processes included in and adjacent to job role. Recognize and resolve customer satisfaction issues (both internal and external).

- Standard item requirements are interpreted and documented properly.
- Special process / sales order requirements are in interpreted and documented properly.

Experience, Competencies and Education
Essential
- Associates degree in manufacturing/industrial engineering technology or the equivalent experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing facility in regards to engineering drawings, bills of material, routings, item data, quality requirements, sales requirements, and special inspections.
- High level of experience working with ERP systems in regards to various line function requirements.
- Experience working with customers, suppliers, and sub-contracts as well as a thorough understanding of how to properly identify / translate / document HNA requirements.
- Must be able to properly translate / input special item requirements in accordance with HNA’s various product lines.
- High proficiency in typing skills.
- Motivated, self starter, with the ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
- Ability to become expert in Item Master requirements in accordance with MS Dynamics AX.
- Ability to work in a matrix organization.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects in a manner which best satisfies HNA’s overall needs.
- Familiarity with various industry standards: i.e. MIL, SAE, ANSI, ASME, ASTM, MSHA, 10CFR50 App. B, 10CFR21, NQA-1, and ISO.
- Knowledgeable of fabricating and assembly of heavy industrial products.
- Motivated, self-starter, with the ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and achieve goals.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
- High moral and ethical standards, demonstrating respect for the individual and team, and setting an example for compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate requirements.

Desirable
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within an air and gas handling, rotating equipment, or heavy industrial firm.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Previous experience in an original equipment manufacturing facility.
- Previous experience with Sales & Applications, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering, Inventory Control, Logistics, and Quality line functions.
