We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join our infrastructure geotechnical team in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role in the structural engineering input to some of our most challenging ground engineering projects.

The Role
We require a civil / structural engineer with good experience in the design of ground engineering structures and also a strong track record in design co-ordination.
The business comprises staff who specialise in various aspects of engineering geology and geotechnical engineering, including civil infrastructure.
You will be required to work on the structural design aspects of many projects alongside a variety of engineering professionals.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Take a lead role for civil / structural engineering within the division
• Project management
• Take the role of design team leader on a variety of projects
• Manage delivery of projects, including management of staff resource to meet workload, and ensuring staff with appropriate experience are utilised
• Ensure that technical checks and reviews of designs are undertaken
• Assist with the professional development of junior staff within the team
• Assist with the generation of new business, including preparation of offers
• Co-operate with other Atkins divisions in order to add maximum value
Requirements
The successful candidate will satisfy the following requirements:
• Graduate in civil or structural engineering
• Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE)
• Valid UK driving licence
Experience
We are looking for a strong technical candidate, with good, relevant experience in structural engineering. Candidates will be asked to show how their experience demonstrates the ability to:
• Take a lead role in ensuring the technical quality of civil / structural design within the division
• Assist with business development including preparation of offers
• Develop good working relationships with clients
• Manage projects to ensure that commercial and technical needs are satisfied
• Assess complex problems and deliver appropriate solutions for ground engineering structures (both temporary and permanent works)
• Strong technical skills are essential
• Appreciation of geotechnical engineering, including EC7
• Understanding of EC2 and EC3
