Senior Geophysicist

OVERALL OBJECTIVE:
The post holder will be employed in the capacity of Project Geophysicist at the [Company] office based in Llandudno, North Wales.

The post holder will be required to work on a wide range of aspects of interpretative geophysics from basic interpretation and mapping to attribute analysis, AVO studies and inversion. Also use of geostatistical techniques in modelling projects. The post holder will form an important part of a multi-disciplinary team.

KEY TASKS:
• Interpretation, mapping, attribute work, depth conversion working on projects ranging from rapid block evaluations to detailed field mapping combined with reservoir modelling using seismic attributes to estimate rock properties.
• Prospect analysis and integration of interpretations with petroleum systems
• Seismic attribute analysis and linking attributes to rock properties and geological settings
• Mapping and depth conversion
• AVO modelling, interpretation and analysis
• Seismic Inversion
• Data loading and management (seismic and well)
• Presentation and preparation of Training Courses
• Report writing and presentation of technical work to clients, working independently or within a multi-disciplinary team.

GENERAL TASKS:
• Update and improve skills and knowledge base.
• To attend Training and Development courses/workshops as deemed necessary.
• To support and undertake such other functions and responsibilities as are required from time to time and where it is deemed relevant and advantageous to the operations.
• Work in accordance with Quality, Security and Health and Safety processes.
• To be part of a proactive team of support staff responsible for delivering a high quality customer-focused professional service.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
• BSc Degree
• MSc Degree
• PhD Degree

EXPERIENCE OF:
• Work within the Oil and Gas industry either in Oil Company or Consultancy
• A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
• Seismic interpretation
• Attribute analysis
• Mapping and depth conversion
• AVO / Seismic Inversion
• Data loading and management

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• In-depth knowledge of one or more of the following interpretation software packages (Landmark, Charisma, Petrel, Kingdom Suite, OpendTect)
• Understanding of prospect analysis / petroleum systems
• Mentoring / Training of less experienced staff
• Experience of a wide range of geological settings
• Knowledge and understanding of seismic stratigraphy and experience of seismic facies analysis
• Experience of (model driven) interpretation in areas of structural complexity
• Experience of integrating information from various geological and geophysical disciplines
