3-D Designer

Position Summary

• This position is responsible for creation and maintenance of proprietary software intended to automate the drafting functions within [Company].

Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Deliverables

• Automate the CAD system, through Inventor’s API, using Visual Basic or latest alternates.
• Design and maintain 3d parametric CAD models.
• Implement software at offsite locations including Buffalo, New Philadelphia, and Mexico.
• Research and test new CAD hardware and software.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
• Partners with all central functions such as Quality, Finance, IT, and HR to ensure that enabling strategies and tactics are in place and are consistent with broader business strategies and tactics.
• Engage in continuous improvement for processes included in and adjacent to job role. Recognize and resolve customer satisfaction issues (both internal and external).
• Follow safe work practices by attending all required EH&S training, reporting safety incidents and near misses on a timely basis and maintaining the goal of “zero” lost time incidents.

Experience, Competencies and Education

• Associates degree in engineering, or related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years direct involvement in 3d CAD design and software development.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Access database programming.
• Working knowledge of object oriented programming.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office Software including; Word, Excel, and Access.
• Working knowledge of Baan project management system preferred.
• Ability to travel on a limited basis.
