Field Superintendent I - Electrical
Overview:
- The individual in this position will work with our Industrial Division and manage day-to-day construction activities including supervision of craft employees. Primary responsibility is direct oversight, supervision, planning and scheduling of all electrical, instrumentation and control work on the project. Coordinate with project management and staff to ensure complete coverage and coordination of scope of responsibilities. Position is responsible for assistance, implementation, and enforcement of project Safety plan in areas within this Scope of Work. Coordinate schedule and progress of the work and resource utilization with other superintendents. Is responsible for production goals, quality control and cost control.
- The initial project is located in Mountain Pass, California.
Responsibilities:
- Electrical superintendent is the primary point of contact for electrical, instrumentation and control work. Responsible for inspection and quality control for all EI&C work, to include documenting the work with daily job photos, and daily log. Responsible for leading the creation, understanding and communicating individual Start-up, Testing and Commissioning for all sub-systems as well as the entire project. Responsible to know and understand the impacts of lead time and interdependence of materials and submittals to other aspects of the work and to communicate these priorities.
- Participates in implementation of Last Planner System and Lean planning within this Scope of Work. Participates and coordinates with Superintendents in the preparation for and execution of pull planning sessions. Electrical superintendent position has lead responsibility with full support from Project Managers and Project Superintendents for planning and coordination of other team members as well as subcontractors for the execution of MOPO’s, Start-up, Testing and Commissioning for the project.
- May supervise staff, including: establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, determining training and development needs and conducting on-the-job training. May conduct Career Development Reviews. May make hiring, discipline and/or termination decisions.
- Plans, selects and hires the craftworkers required for the efficient execution of the work. Helps with the selection of equipment, construction methods and sequencing of operations.
- Enforces the Project Schedule. Prepares and maintains a detailed CPM schedule for specific areas of responsibility which relate to the project schedule. Prepares any other incremental schedules as required for the successful completion of the work.
- Oversees, directs, and coordinates field workers, equipment, material, and subcontract activities in accordance with the project schedule.
- Reviews tool, equipment inventory, and equipment maintenance including outside rentals.
- Reviews the following for proper preparation and coding: Time Sheets, Quantity reporting.
- Uses available reports to manage cost and promote construction efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Two years engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.
- Three to five years supervisory experience in construction technology, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures required on large industrial projects.
- Advanced understanding of field operations, construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups essential.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience on electrical, instrumentation and control work for large industrial projects. Ideal project experience will include large mines and power plant projects.
