Senior Engineer -Manufacturing

Level of Work:

  • Directs or may supervise technicians and lower-level engineers on assigned projects.  Top-level manufacturing engineering work involving difficult assignments of board scope and nature.

Duties:

  • Directs and participates in a variety of manufacturing engineering projects of a broad and complex nature requiring appreciable creativity, ingenuity and judgment. 
  • Plans and participates in the development of new processes, methods, tooling, jigs, fixturing and machine designs, etc. for products produced.
  • Prepares estimates of costs involved in changing from present to new methods with little technical direction and under general supervision only.
  • Solves complex problems with work flow in present manufacturing processes.
  • Conducts a continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance and improve the products manufactured.
  • Monitors projects and ensures that timetables are met.
  • Develops, installs, and maintains cost-effective methods with fair, equitable manufacturing operating standards.
  • Keeps abreast of the technology trends, investigates, recommends, and implements the most effective methods of manufacture to keep company at competitive edge at all times.
  • Kewaunee Fabrications is dedicated to long range growth and profitability by providing customers products and services which meet or exceed their expectations.  As such, all administrative employees are expected to embrace, promote and enhance Kewaunee Fabrications Quality Policy.  Additionally, each administrative employee will:
  • Initiate continuous improvement activities.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities and identify and record problems relating to product, process, and the quality system.
  • Initiate, recommends, or provide solutions to problems through designated channels and verify solution implementation.
  • Performs other engineering duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or other related engineering field is required.
  • Mechanical skills inventory will be required to determine aptitude.
  • Six to eight years’ experience of manufacturing and engineering related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate the English language.  Ability to express self effectively to individuals and groups using good oral, written and listening skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in determining the appropriate action to be taken relating to job duties.  Ability to change outlook, viewpoint, etc. when circumstances dictate that doing so is best for the Company in general.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all other employees.
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.  Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The work is sedentary.  Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do work.  However, there may be some walking; standing; bending, carrying of light items such as papers, book; driving an automobile, etc.  No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • The work involves every day risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, shop areas e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of safety regulations etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
