Project Controls Specialist
Responsibilities:
- [Company] is seeking a talented individual for the position of Project Controls Specialist to provide project controls services (scheduling, resource planning, and cost analysis) for engineering projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Support project managers and the project team by coordinating efforts relative to management and oversight of planning, design and/or construction management. Lead development of project schedules, specifications cost estimates and progress reporting for transit projects of various sizes and complexity. Other responsibilities will include:
- Develop, manage, update, and monitor individual project schedules and integrated overall master program schedule.
- Review schedule, progress and productivity of consultants and contractors, monitor and verify monthly costs and earned value, conduct change order management and control.
- Develop, manage and monitor program and project specific budgets, cash flow projections and forecasts.
- Evaluate and adjust data regarding cost status, resource requirements, commitment data and productivity variance reports.
- Develop and prepare monthly program and project progress summary reports.
- Establish and ensure scheduling and cost control standards are implemented
- Interface and maintain liaison with project management, client, and other consultants on all control related activities.
- Attend meetings with project managers to review and approve baseline schedules, and attend regularly scheduled meetings as necessary to stay current on schedules.
- Cost - update the project change notice and cost projections weekly. Work with program management team members to facilitate delivery of all necessary change notice scope and cost documents from design and construction management consultants to obtain client approval.
- Develop cost management plans, order-of-magnitude cost estimates, budget estimates and definitive cost estimates for transit/heavy construction projects exceeding $100 million using advanced cost estimating methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant project controls, project analyst experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility in terms or project size and sophistication preferably in rail/heavy construction and familiar with FTA policies and procedures strongly preferred.
- One or more of the following credentials is strongly preferred: CCC (Certified Cost Consultant), CCE (Certified Cost Engineer), CEP (Certified Estimating Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional)
- Experience with advanced scheduling principles using Primavera 6 (P6), 3 (P3), MS Project or other related system applications is preferred.
- Excellent verbal, communication and interpersonal skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel.
- Experience with project accounting and general financial management, document management, and project compliance processes & audits.
