Senior Accountant

Job Description

• We are seeking a Senior Accountant for our corporate headquarters located in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a key position in [Company] finance department and has a wide span of responsibility and influence. In addition to traditional accounting responsibilities, the Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in [Company] GAAP and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Overhead audits. This role also assists [Company] field offices on pricing for key proposals; including rate build-ups and Service Contract Act (SCA) wage determinations. This is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Controller. Pay will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

Required Skills

• Responsible for the oversight of the general ledger, maintaining system of recurring and ad hoc journal entries, calculating and entering adjusting journal entries including labor cross charges, equipment log postings, payroll/benefits related postings, etc.;
• Perform monthly analysis of trial balance and review with Controller and CFO;
• Manage opening, closing, and creation of fiscal periods;
• Control chart of accounts to include adds, modifications, and deletes;
• Monitor GL postings (and un-postings) and highlight process improvement opportunities;
• Account reconciliations for key accounts;
• Prepare account analysis of balance sheet and cash flow statements;
• Maintain control over fixed assets and ownership for fixed asset system of record;
• Responsible for payroll (Ceridian) and fixed asset system interfaces with GL;
• Work with Financial Analyst to create and issue month-end financial management reports;
• Maintain relationships with Department of Transportation auditors and take lead role in FAR audits;
• Assist with annual GAAP audit, providing detailed account analysis and variance analysis to independent auditors;
• Create pricing schedules for government and large proposals;
• Prepare property, sales/use and gross receipts tax filings;
• Prepare and process 1099 forms;
• Assist Controller with finance initiatives and projects.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business field.
• CPA designation is helpful.
• A minimum of five years of accounting and finance experience.
• Proficient Microsoft Office experience.
• Deltek Vision experience is desired.
• Proactive with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organization.
