Principal Scientist
[Company] is looking for a Principal Scientist- NEPA Expert for the Western US Mining Region for one of the nation's most well respected, high-end, and fast-growing environmental consulting firms.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and lead existing regulatory affairs for natural resource development projects that primarily include mining, oil and gas, and federal government projects.
- Lead teams preparing pre-NEPA and NEPA documents for clients and lead federal agencies.
- Expand and leverage existing federal contracting tools for increased market share in government funded projects.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience with NEPA and permitting projects related to one or more of the following areas: mining, water, energy, oil/gas, hydroelectric and natural resources (required).
- Skills in project management, ability to provide technical input to other projects in a flexible manner, and ability to multi-task.
- Strong problem solving/analysis, organizational, writing, and interpersonal communication skills along with excellent management.
- Experience and education in one or more environmental science disciplines.
- Experience with ESHIA projects, international experience, and willingness to participate in international projects with or without travel (desired).
- Ability to conduct environmental site characterization, data management, and audit work in the western region (desired).
Basic and Required Qualifications:
- Minimum years of experience: 10
- Education required: Bachelors Degree Required
- Skills required: 10 years of NEPA and project management experience including mining sector.
- Technical background in an environmental science area. Strong writing, project management, and leadership skills.
- This position does require travel. Travel amount is negligible.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
- This position does not manage others.
