Environmental Engineer 2

[Company] is seeking a dedicated Engineer or Scientist to support the Operation and Maintenance group based in our New Hyde Park, NY office. The local O&M group is responsible for the operation of several remedial treatment systems, including groundwater pump-and-treat, soil vapor extraction, sub-slab depressurization systems, as well as implementation of capital upgrades and supporting plant design and construction efforts.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Candidate will be responsible for office and field work.
• Primary responsibilities include assistance with the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of groundwater and soil remediation systems, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing equipment tests, troubleshooting equipment, collecting soil, groundwater and vapor samples and coordinating analyses, evaluating treatment media breakthrough and plant performance, assisting with development of quarterly compliance reports, and helping develop ways to improve system operation and reduce operating costs. In addition, the successful candidate will be a part of the 24/7 alarm response team and may be required to respond to treatment system alarm conditions during outside of normal business hours.
• Providing engineering support for remediation and system process/mechanical systems design, installation and operation.
• Preparation of construction drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, cost estimates, permit applications and other technical reports related to remediation and process design.
• Data compilation and analysis, preparation of feasibility studies and other support/coordination for site investigation, characterization and development of remedial strategies.
• The applicant must have effective written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to follow directions with minimal oversight.

Basic and Required Qualifications:
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

• Possesses solid technical knowledge. Demonstrates solid oral and written communication skills.
• Years of experience: 0-4 years’ experience
• Education required: BS Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or related Science
• Registrations/Certifications preferred: EIT, 40-hour HAZWOPER
• Prior work experience in the environmental consulting firm is preferred. Familiarity with water/wastewater treatment and soil remediation technologies a plus.
• Experience using database software, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and AutoCAD.
• Candidate located within approximately 45 minutes’ drive time of the New Hyde Park, NY office preferred.
• This position does require travel. Overnight travel amount is negligible.
• A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
• This position does not manage others.
• Position grade will be determined by candidate experience.
