Survey Technician 1

Support a survey crew in the daily collection of survey data for a variety of survey tasks, including DOT Route Location Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Route Location Surveys, Control Surveys, Deformation Surveys and Highway Construction Layout.

  • Keep equipment maintained and organized.
  • Keep survey vehicles equipped with property equipment.
  • Surveying technicians usually work a 10-hour day, 4 days a week and will primarily spend time outdoors. Sometimes, they work longer hours during the summer, when weather and light conditions are most suitable for fieldwork. Construction-related work may be limited during times of inclement weather. Survey technicians engage in active, sometimes strenuous, work. They often stand for long periods, walk considerable distances, and climb hills with heavy packs of instruments and other equipment. They also can be exposed to all types of weather. Traveling is routinely a part of the job, and technicians may commute long distances, stay away from home overnight, or temporarily relocate near a survey site.
  • Ability to communicate with other team members in an effective manor, both orally and written.
  • Show ability to learn new procedures and equipment.

Basic and Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum years of experience: 0
  • Education required: HS Diploma
  • This position does requires travel. Travel amount is up to 50%.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
  • This position does not manage others.
