- Position: Mid-Level Environmental Chemist or Environmental Scientist
- Location: Ventura, CA 93001
- Compensation: $45,000 to $70,000 annual salary (DOE & Negotiable) plus benefits and performance bonus package
- Stable, thriving and industry leading full service Environmental Investigation and Remediation Consulting firm specializing in the site assessment and cleanup of soil and groundwater environmental impacted sites for the federal government, retail petroleum, commercial, and industrial markets; actively seeks a Mid-Level Environmental Chemist or Environmental Scientist for our Ventura, CA office.
The ideal and most qualified Environmental Chemist or Scientist will:
- Support system improvements in data processing, Quality Assurance /Quality Control reviews, and reporting of chemical data generated from environmental laboratories
- Support Senior Chemist in the area of environmental chemistry, data integrity and reporting
- Perform both onsite field work and laboratory work assignment such as field measurements, sample collection, contractor oversight, technical report writing, data analysis, etc.
- Oversee subcontracts and performance of 3rd party analytical laboratories.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams for planning and execution of projects as assigned,
- including performing research and writing of report sections.
- Provide statistical data analysis; interact with company or subcontracted data modelers as needed
- Support chemical and environmental field data quality control management at a systems/corporate level.
- Mid-Level Environmental Chemist or Scientist Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelors or Masters of Science degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or Geology from an accredited university and a minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of professional experience as an Environmental Chemist.
- Sound knowledge and experience of analytical chemistry methodologies and laboratory procedures including instrumentation, database systems, electronic data deliverable formats, and laboratory QC procedures.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and in presentations to a wide range of audiences including technical and non-technical.
- Excellent database and data analytical skills required; programming skills a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of the scientific process of problem identification, development of data quality objectives, identification of data needs, and the proper protocol and requirements needed to implement that process.
- Knowledge of environmental analytical methods as described in EPA SW-846 and quality control procedures as applicable to environmental analytical chemistry, such as data validation procedures.
- Working knowledge of calibration and operation of various field analytical and monitoring devices, including immunoassay, EDXRF, etc.
- Current 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification
