Reliability Engineer

Introduction

A national mining company has a vacancy for a Reliability Engineer (PDI Female) at one of their mines in Mpumulanga.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (NQF level 5 - BSc or National Diploma)
  • Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) would be advantageous
  • Member of the South African Engineering Association (SACEA) would be advantageous
  • AA plc Safety Course: A3 would be advantageous
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Management Development Programme or the equivalent would be advantageous
  • Government Certificate of Competence for Mines and Works (GCC) would be advantageous

Skills & Knowledge:

In depth understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation including:

  • The Mine Health and Safety Act and Minerals and Energy Act
  • Sound knowledge of the Company South Africa Operational / Engineering Codes of practices, policies and procedures.
  • An in depth knowledge and understanding of technical engineering aspects such as OEM’s and SABS standards.
  • A good knowledge of machinery and equipment used on the relevant operations
  • Flame-proofing and Gas Testing knowledge
  • Understanding of engineering best practices and new technologies relating to engineering principles & processes
  • Understanding of Environmental standards
  • Proven technical and maintenance capability

Job Specification

The role:

  • Establish and maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies are followed
  • Effectively manage and oversee condition monitoring, ensuring that standards and procedures are adhere to, as well as best practices are developed and used
  • Manage and oversee the Engineering Planning Department in order to ensure accurate scheduling of all maintenance of engineering equipment, and ensure that all maintenance done on equipment as well as down times are captured accurately
  • Manage and oversee the Technical Expediter ensuring that reliable contractors are used for the repair of equipment

Financial Budgeting & Management

  • Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
