Cost Accountant

Introduction

Mine / Cost Accountant required for Burgersfort Area in Limpopo.

Must hold B.Degree / Diploma in Accounting (focus on cost management) and have 5 yrs post qualification experience of which 3 yrs should be in a Cost Accountant capacity.
Experience in Pastel an advantage.
Must speak Sesotho or Tswana.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

B Degree/Diploma in Accounting with emphasis on cost management and 5 years post qualification experience, 3 of these years should have been in a Cost Accountant capacity.
Fluent in Sesotho or Tswana
Able to do books of prime entry
Some experience with Pastel Evolution
Experience with ABC

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Develop and implement appropriate accounting systems that will accurately capture the activities of mine
Development, implementation and monitoring of Activity Based Costing to determine production costs
Implement and manage financial control systems (Procurement to Payments)
Assist in best procurement decisions and strategies
Produce Monthly annual cost reports
Zero based costing
Budget preparation, control and forecasting
Contract cost negotiations
Review Contract costs and approval
Day to day accounting from books of prime entry to financial statements
Producing periodical (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) board financial reports
Running allocation reports and ensuring all project cost are allocated correctly
Implementation and monitoring protocols and procedures are followed and supervision of store personnel
Manage and oversee the petty cash process
Checking project duration and schedules to ensure all projects are running according to plan
Authorise daily spend and ensure all expenses are valid and according to budget
Maintain and analyse the general ledger accounts
Participation in weekly operational meeting in order to obtain an in depth knowledge on technical aspects and identify key expenditure areas
Perform frequent visits to the shaft sites and mining working areas to ascertain if proper
Accounting controls and procedures are being applied and identify different costing sectors in order to minimise risk factors if there are any
Running profit and loss reports to ensure all expenses are correctly entered into the company’s books
Drafting of auditors working papers
Any other duties as the General Manager may assign from time to time

Salary:

R650k CTC
