Machine Tool Operator

Description:

  • The Ft. Irwin Training Support Center (TSC) near Barstow, CA provides training support for various military training efforts. [Company] services contract includes TSC Operations and Maintenance, Devices, CTS, EIC, Supply and administrative and information management functions. The Devices Shop personnel provide design, prototype and construction support for approximately 20,000 training aids. Its primary function is design, construct and maintain the fleet of VISMODS that replicate OPFOR equipment on the NTC battlefield.

Need:

  • The Machine Tool Operator determines proper feeds, speeds, tooling, and operation sequence or selects those prescribed in drawings, blueprints, or layouts). Work also involves using a variety of precision measuring instruments, making necessary adjustments during machining operation to achieve requisite dimensions to very close tolerances. This worker may be required to select proper coolants and cutting and lubricating oils to recognize when tools need dressing, and to dress tools.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Requires specific experience at Army installation(s).
  • A minimum of two years of experience or equivalent in the operation of various types of drill presses and/or boring machines.
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Must pass Drug Screening.
  • Proof of US Citizenship required.   
  • Duties could include measuring work with calipers, micrometers, and rulers.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid California driver’s license, maintain Post driving privileges and complete a Defensive Driving Course.
  • Must be able to pass all security requirements IAW Fort Irwin Provost Marshall’s Policy in order to gain access to the installation.
