Project Manager - Manufacturing

Summary:

  • This position provides and applies project management skills and leadership to plan, manage, and coordinate execution of corporate strategic projects throughout its life cycle, and ensures that project scope, objectives, and deliverables are accomplished within prescribed time, budget, quality standards, and other applicable designated metrics.  This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party service suppliers or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage project development and execution from beginning to end.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Draft project charters and plans and attain appropriate approvals.
  • Develop project plans, resource requirements, budget estimates, and schedules.
  • Perform project financial analysis as required.
  • Monitor and control day-to-day project activities and scope.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and confer with them to outline work plans and to assign duties and responsibilities.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Provide project status updates and feedback to appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with personnel across all TIMET functional groups as required to support project requirements, to ensure required quality procedures and specifications are defined and employed, and to become familiar with TIMET’s operations, products, and processes.
  • Coordinate project activities with activities of mill operations, quality and technology departments, outside conversion and continuous improvement management groups, and with service suppliers / subcontractors to accomplish project requirements and ensure project plans, schedules and budgets are meeting expectations.
  • Prepare project reports and presentations for management, customers, or service suppliers.
  • Function as point of contact with customers, service supplier, or others when designated.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of a project.
  • Assure project legal documents are completed and signed.
  • Coordinate efficient “hand off” of project to the current business execution resources.
  • Develop and/or employ best practices of project management principles and processes.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and change management
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Be independent minded team facilitator working with cross-functional teams
  • Must have understanding of basic accounting and financial practices and principals
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with all organization levels
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Can facilitate teamwork across different facilities and implement the desired outcome from the team
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time, including occasional international travel

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Project Management; An equivalent amount of relevant work experience may also be considered
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related project management experience
  • PMI Project Management certification desirable
  • Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Experience with SAP manufacturing resource planning protocol desirable
