Accountant

Job Description:

Accountant responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Works collaboratively with others inside and outside of accounting at all levels of the organization to facilitate efficient operation of the business
• Review and adjust Asset Retirement Obligation accounts to ensure consistency across company subsidiaries
• Own the quarterly ARO process and ensure successful implementation of ARO software
• Prepare and post journal entries to process adjustments as required
• Provide training, when needed, to operation teams responsible for approving ARO assumptions
• Review and approved fixed asset additions throughout the month and assist with internal asset addition reporting
• Review Oracle Projects additions for appropriateness
• Assist with other Property Accounting processes as needed (i.e. Depreciation, Depletion, Capital Addition Reporting, AFE Review, Oracle Projects Review)
• Miscellaneous ad hoc activities and special projects as required or assigned by supervisor or Assistant Controller

Required Skills:

The successful candidate for this position will meet the following requirements:

• Accounting degree – BS or BBA in Accounting required
• Licensed CPA or CPA eligible
• Proactive self-starter
• Inquisitive with a need to understand the “why” not just the “how-to”
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Able to interact with employees outside of accounting at all levels of the organization
• Ability to work independently and as member of a team
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
• Two to six years prior oil and gas accounting experience – preferably within a Property Accounting team
• Working knowledge of Horizon, Oracle and COGNOS is a plus
