- SPX Precision Components is a leading manufacturer of flight safety and close tolerance parts and assemblies for both commercial and military markets. We supply critical safety parts and structural components for both rotary and fixed wing aircraft. Job Summary
Accountability:
- The position of Cell Leader is a key catalyst on a manufacturing Cell Team, who works in conjunction with Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, and hourly Cell associates to manufacture or assemble a component or major assembly. As such, this individual must supervise a group or groups engaged in various activities in the Operations organization, and act with urgency to direct the resolution of technical and logistics problems and the introduction of measures to improve operations and customer relations.
Typical duties/responsibilities for engineering may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Plan, establish schedules and assign work, considering requirements and priorities. Ensure most effective utilization of staff and equipment in order to cost-effectively achieve objectives while concurrently implementing efforts to continuously improve performance.
- Monitor activities, anticipate and respond effectively to problems, ensure that employees are properly trained and work is performed in accordance with health and safety requirements. Manage the resolution of complex technical problems and human resource issues, in concert with senior managers and human resource representatives, as appropriate. Apply AS9100 AOP’s and SOP’s and maintain adherence as directed.
- Lead or assist in the implementation of various continuous improvement initiatives such as Set-up Reduction, 5S, Flow and, Kaizen events, Root Cause and Corrective Action resolution, development of Standard Work applications, Statistical Sampling, and new product introduction.
- Maintain awareness of new developments and technologies. Review equipment capabilities, methods and processes, and determine feasibility of utilizing alternative approaches, consolidating functions,and modifying or replacing equipment to reduce costs and improve quality. As assigned, devise and implement new approaches to recurring problems. Prepare or assist in preparing budgets and ensure adherence to approved budget plans.
- Provide guidance and training, and ensure fair and equitable treatment of staff. Manage and document employee performance and develop associated recommendations.
- Actively participate, recommend, and initiate improvement in our EH&S practices and procedures.
