Electrical Engineer-Aluminum Lithium

Position Description

• [Company] is in search of an Electrical Engineer to work at the [Company] Technical Center, located in [Company] Center (New Kensington) PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh. The Electrical Engineer will report directly to the Aluminum Lithium Casting Manager. The Electrical Engineer opening is a newly created position to support Aluminum Lithium (Al-Li) Casting electrical systems, control systems, and supervise Al-Li’s maintenance group which includes electrical technicians and mechanical maintenance technicians. The intent of this position is to provide stable equipment operation to Al-Li ingot casting.

Major Responsibilities:

• Design, lead installation, and commission new and revised equipment from an electrical and control standpoint
• Provide electrical engineering support for process improvement efforts
• Lead various process improvement efforts
• Develop and share both theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical engineering and the Al-Li production process and mentors technical resources
• Lead Al-Li’s maintenance team and ensure predictive and preventative maintenance systems are developed and deployed
• Create electrical drawings including schematics and panel layouts
• Safety: as a leader in Al-Li ingot casting, the incumbent must ensure the safe work practices of direct reports as well as ensuring safe deployment and operation of control systems in Al-Li casting.
• [Company] Business System (ABS) - Ensure ABS tools are used to support stable Al-Li casting operations.
• Ensure that designs meet all applicable codes and safety standards
• Provide engineering solutions to situations which may arise during development and assembly of equipment Provide project management support including investigation, specification design, funding installation, tune up, documentation, maintenance setup and statistical start up
• Apply Statistical Quality Control, such as statistical process control, availability studies, short and long term capability studies, and designed experiments.
• Supervise employees in the Al-Li maintenance group and provide quality, timely and cost effective maintenance support to Al-Li casting operations

Basic Qualifications    

• AS degree
• At least 2 years’ experience working in an industrial environment
• Process control experience
• Experience with PLC programming and AutoCAD
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office products
