Metallurgist

Position Description

• The Metallurgist functions under general guidance from the Casthouse Superintendent and primary purpose is to provide technical services to customers (internal and external) and perform various plant and corporate quality and metallurgy functions. The incumbent functions according to established policies and procedures to meet both plant and corporate goals relating to product quality and customer satisfaction. The incumbent requires extensive problem solving and analytical capabilities in order to identify problems and recommend solutions for both Intalco processes and customers’ processes. The incumbent will provide a coordinating link between the Intalco processes and the various Owners’ marketing and sales function. Effective human relations skills are required because of interaction with customers and numerous personnel throughout the organization.
• This position could be a JG 15 or 16 depending on candidate qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Requires B.S. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or alternate engineering with 0 to 3 years of minimum experience in a manufacturing environment with Quality Control or Metallurgical responsibility. Must possess technical knowledge of operations, as well as have human relations and people skills due to the multitude of contacts among plant personnel, as well as owners and their customers.

Preferred Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering with 5 to 10 years’ of progressive responsibility in aluminum casting or fabrication. Must possess technical knowledge of casting, and customer operations, as well as have human relations and people skills due to the multitude of contacts among plant personnel, as well as owners and their customers.
