Environmental Engineer

Position Description

  • We are looking for an Environmental Engineer at the Pimalco facility in Chandler, Arizona for the [Company] Forging and Extrusions group.
  • This position is accountable for management of the environmental program. The Environmental Engineer will report to the EHS Manager.
  • The primary role of the position is to manage the environmental aspects of the operations based on sound business decisions while ensuring compliance with requirements of local and federal regulations and [Company] Corporate Standards while maintaining positive public relations with key internal and external stakeholders.

Key activities will include:

  • Assess and monitor site compliance with local and federal environmental regulations & standards, as well as with [Company] EHS Policy and Standards.
  • Coach and advise operating leadership on environmental regulations and assist in designing and implementing necessary control systems to achieve and maintain compliance with all internal and external environmental expectations.
  • Develop, implement and maintain sustainable environmental management programs, including waste management, wastewater discharge, air pollution control and chemical management.
  • Maintain, identify and process required information and documentation to comply with all permit requirements.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications and perform applicable regulatory reporting to various agencies to ensure compliance with Pimalco’s Title V Air Permit, Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) for storm water discharges, Industrial User Permit for wastewater discharge, and any other applicable agency reports.
  • Serve as the primary liaison/advocate between Pimalco and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with Universal Waste and Hazardous Waste [Large Quantity Generator (LQG)] requirements by establishing and implementing handling, packaging, hauling, and disposal practices.
  • Maintain and keep current Pimalco’s Release Prevention Control and Countermeasure (RPCC) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPP) Plans.
  • Develop and conduct required environmental training.
  • Conduct periodic EHS inspections/audits of the facility.
  • Provide oversight for effective environmental ASAT performance and Stars input.
  • Assist in investigation of all major environmental non-compliance incidents.
  • Coordinates written pollution prevention and minimization programs (including emission and release prevention) with production personnel at all departments at the facility to reduce the volume of manufacturing waste by-products from each department.
  • Monitor existing, revised and new environmental regulations of federal, state and local agencies.
  • Please note: The job grade may extend to grade 16 if experience warrants

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of environmental regulatory compliance experience in a manufacturing operation
