The company: 
As a leading national heavy fabrication and products/service provider to the mining sector, this organisation has developed a sound industry reputation for quality, reliability and guaranteed service performance. Due to increasing market growth, they are currently seeking to appoint an organised and detailed estimator for their new fabrication workshop. 

Job requirements: 
Based in Mackay, the role will require the successful candidate to liaise with workshop, sales staff and clients in determining fabrication details for dragline items such as buckets, cable boats, railing, counter weight steps and rear dump truck trays. An understanding of product procurement/or costing and vendor supplier negotiation would be an advantage. 

The candidate: 
  • To be considered for this opportunity, we are seeking individuals with the following attributes and background. 
  • Trade background within boiler making and steel fabrication 
  • An understanding of work and design layout and costing 
  • The ability to read and interpreting design drawings, weld symbols and fabrication sketches 
  • Sound computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and job cost system and ERP systems 
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills 
  • Good time management skills with a focus on completing tasks 
  • Be currently working in a similar role or seeking career advancement away the workshop floor
