Senior Project Planner / Scheduler

The Company
Our client has been a market leader within mining and minerals processing industry for over 30 years. Their services cover the full remit of integrated process and equipment design, detailed engineering, equipment supply, operator training, commissioning assistance and ongoing process and maintenance support. 
 
They are due to embark on a major new process plant expansion overseas. The new project will be run from their Brisbane office although the actual site is located in Europe. The project will run for several years although this contract will initially be on a rolling 6 month contract. 
 
The Role: 
You will be responsible for the preparation and monitoring of the overall schedule for the project delivery programme. You will work in conjunction with project managers to assist the preparation of schedules for individual projects.


Key Responsibilities
  • Understand contract requirements and coordinate project team input to the schedule during design and/or procurement stages of assigned projects.
  • Liaison with Clients and sub-contractors to gather input for assembling and update of project schedules.
  • Coordinate the development of the Project Baseline Schedules.
  • Provide support to project managers for regular progress reports.
  • Assess the effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance.
  • Identifying contract variations related to program changes and instigate the issue of documentation to the relevant project participant.
  • Liaison with Clients and sub-contractors to ensure the planning processes, procedures and systems are implemented and subject to continuous improvement reviews. 

The Candidate:
  •  Ideally you will have a solid background in Planning & Scheduling on major Engineering Projects (e.g. Mining/Resource or Process).
  • Have a sound knowledge of planning and scheduling methods and procedures related to project work.
  • Have experience in use of industry standard project planning software, in particular Microsoft Project and a knowledge of Primavera P6 and.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Understand how to analyse and manage project risk
