Planning Engineer

Our client is one of the world’s largest gold producers and currently seeking a Planning Engineer for one of their underground operations in Western Australia.

Responsibilities
  • Securing the success of the mine by competently developing, communicating and distributing appropriate schedules and mine plans that facilitate the optimal extraction of gold ore from the mine;
  • Ensuring that all members of the mining team have clear understanding and direction of objectives by leading and controlling the coordination of regular planning meetings, ensuring deliverables are accurately recorded and distributed;
  • Contributing in the building of strategic working alliances, improving and maintaining productive and constructive interpersonal relationships both internally with production, strategic planning, technical services personnel and externally with business partners;
  • Ensure the business can make informed decisions by developing, implementing and monitoring conformance reporting information (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually) for managing target delivery, identifying and planning short term extraction strategies, critical path and high exposure areas;
  • Contributing to the business’ capability to mine safely by actively identifying risks and threats to achieving targets and develop, establish and manage programs to ensure those risks are minimised or eliminated, apprising the Technical Services Manager of issues that may affect objectives by continually communicating in an effective manner.
The successful applicant will ideally possess:
  • A Bachelor of Mining Engineering
  • 5+ years underground/surface engineering exposure to longhole drilling, blasting, ventilation, projects, planning and scheduling
  • Previous gold mining experience is preferred
  • Competency in mining software. Experience using datamine, Mine 2-4D and EPS would be highly regarded.
