Health & Safety Superintendent

An International gold producer is currently seeking a Health and Safety Superintendent for a position based in West Africa. The company has a producing open pit mine site together with several exploration activities in country.

Job Description

• The Health & Safety Superintendent will be required to ensure the workplace is compliant with CDI legislation and international best practice within the team. 
• The individual will be required to develop the programs under agreement and report on all related commitments. 
• The individual will also be responsible for the budgetary requirements and for assisting in establishing KPI’s and put in place a suitable auditing system. 
• This individual will be required to interact with both internal personnel as well as Government.

Candidate Requirements

• The ideal person will have obtained a tertiary qualification or suitable on the job experience together with 10 years in a senior safety role. 
• The individual will need proven experience in developing safety strategies and procedures within a mining environment in remote areas and developing countries. 
• Experience in exploration drilling, emergency response and occupational health is necessary. 
• French is an advantage.
