Chief Geologist

Introduction

To design and implement operational and technical solutions to ensure geological knowledge and confidence to enable a stable production environment in line with organisation’s objectives:

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor (Hons) degree or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution in GeologyPr Sci Nat, GSSA, SAIMM
Experience with Open Pit Mine is essential

Job Specification

Oversee production geology at a newly established manganese open pit mine
Reserve and resources updating and validation, including near mine exploration
Ore interpretation and modelling QA/QC of geological data
Advise mining and processing divisions on resources and geology questions
Assess the viability of new projects from grass roots level to operating mine
Manage large scale exploration projects from grass roots level to feasibility stages
Grade ControlImprove, develop and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Code of Practice (COP’s) and policy in line with best practice principles
Enhance safety awareness throughout the working environment
