Introduction

The Khumani Mine is situated approximately 29 km from Kathu next to the N14 in the Southern Kalahari.

Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• BTech/B.Sc/B.Eng in Mining Engineering (Essential);
• Mine Manager Certificate of Competence (Essential);

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years operational Mining Engineering experience in general surface mining:
• Minimum of three (3) years operational experience in an open cast production environment (including Fleet management and Control systems).

• Computer literacy - Intermediate user of MS Office Excel, Word, Access & Outlook and basic user of MS Office Projects, JD Edwards System and SQL Database administration

Job Specification

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

To coordinate mining operations to ensure optimum and cost effective recovery of Iron Ore in accordance with sound mining practice to ensure the attainment of Department's production objectives, which includes:

• Loading and hauling operations
• Continuous improvement and - optimization
• Asset performance
• People management
• Budget and cost control
• Contractor management
• SHERQ adherence and compliance
• Work Ethics

APPOINTMENT

• Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.

HOUSING

• The Company offers a highly subsidized plot in Kathu to encourage private home ownership.

OTHER INFORMATION

• The successful incumbent will be appointed subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996 and meeting the requirements of the Company's Code of Practice 
• Minimum standards of fitness to perform work at a Mine. He/she may also undergo a psychometric assessment.
• The above mentioned position is D3 on the Patterson band grading system. 
• The successful candidate that conforms to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading.
• Should the successful candidate not conform with all said requirements and experience, but are nonetheless regarded as suitable for appointment to the position, he/she will be appointed on a lower more appropriate grading, until successful achievement of required competencies and skills.
