Introduction

Company specialising in Rental, Repairs and Sales of Platforms, Telehandlers and accessories to all facets of the construction, industrial, transport, entertainment and mining industries has an outstanding vacancy open for an Operations Manager.

Job Specification

  • The successful incumbent will be responsible to ensure that the resources of the Branch is being used to its optimum efficiency to maximize the branches profitability.

Requirements:

  • Matric or Grade 12 certificate
  • B COMM / BSC tertiary qualification
  • Supply Chain Management Degree/Diploma
  • Fully computer literate, including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge and have worked/maintained a MRP system
  • 5 years operations experience at a medium to large organization
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years in a senior role in logistics / distribution / Supply Chain Management/Stock holding
  • Must have at least 2 years experience in negotiating with local suppliers
  • Managed a staff complement of not less than 20 people for at least 3 years
  • Generate appropriate and informative reports regarding the weekly, monthly, quarterly qualitative and quantitative performance of the service departments.
  • Basic understanding of the legal and contractual aspects of dealing with suppliers
  • Able to play a key and leadership role in the management team
  • Been responsible for building, implementing and controlling a Procurement and service budget for at least 3 years
  • Good understanding of the financial implications of procurement decisions
  • Understand the procurement requirements based on the operational, maintenance and other needs of the business
  • Establishing service related budgets along with evaluation of budget to actual on monthly basis,
  • Investigate and suggest solutions to expenses exceeding budget in service related areas
  • Monthly report in income statement meeting on areas of concern as well as possible solutions in service related areas
  • Build an asset management, tracking and control system for the equipment in order to understand the location and status of each asset at all times
  • Optimize availability on the fleet
  • Monthly site visits to ensure customer satisfaction with machine quality and ensure quality standard of equipment is being maintained.
  • Identify fleet requirements/growth based on Commercial Sales and Financial policy for the region
  • Manage the vehicle pool in terms of purchase and disposal
  • Build and maintain relationships with all the key suppliers to the business for technical and service support.
  • Define and publish the technical guidelines for all technicians and users
  • Identify training programmes to promote staff development on technical and service standards
  • Build and maintain procedures and process to ensure that every person who operates or drives an asset has the appropriate and legal license and training
  • Build, implement and control an occupational health and safety standards
  • Develop correct resource ratios to ensure effective maintenance and response times for all service aspects of the business
  • Evaluate and assist in employment of all technical staff
  • Applicant must reside in the Midrand or surrounding area or be willing to relocate.
