Machine Operator - Gate Cell

• Tyco Valves & Controls is the world's largest manufacturer of industrial valves and controls products. Its companies manufacture fully integrated lines of superior quality products for every market it serves, including the mining, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, power, and oil field industries.
• We are looking for a Machine Operator, Gate Cell. This position will report to the area leadperson and the Manufacturing Manager in our Reno, NV manufacturing facility.

Organization and Position Summary:

• The primary responsibility of the Machine Operator is to set-up and operate a manual milling machine and CNC waterjet using setup instructions and knowledge of machining processes.

Major Responsibilities:

• Set-up and operate a manual milling machine using setup instructions and knowledge of machining processes.
• Set up and operate CNC waterjet cutting table to cut profile of gates.
• Identify critical machined surfaces and handle components with proper care to prevent damage.
• Deburr and smooth sharp edges using hand tools and pedestal grinders.
• Correctly read and follow established work instructions.
• Enter basic transactions onto forms and into the computer based MRP system.
• Read and follow gate cell lean process flow as outlined in our Work Order System.
• Safely use overhead crane to load and unload parts and raw plate from machine tools.
• Work in a team environment to meet production deadlines and flex into other departments or work tasks as required.
• Perform internal to cycle machining operations to support lean process flow.
• Communicate with planning and other departments to address quality problems and to organize work to meet production needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Must work well in a team environment and contribute to the overall success of the lean cell.
• Must be willing to flex to other areas of the gate cell and machine shop including waterjet, milling, and deburring.
• Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a timely manner required.
• Must communicate effectively with other departments, leads, and managers.
• Experience working in a lean cell is a plus.
• Regularly required to walk or stand.
• Occasionally is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Must regularly lift or move up to 35 pounds and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must have familiarity with computers and data entry.
