Assembler

Description

• Tyco Valves & Controls is the world's largest manufacturer of industrial valves and controls products. Its companies manufacture fully integrated lines of superior quality products for every market it serves, including the mining, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, power, and oil field industries.
• We are looking for an Assembler on first shift. This position will report to the area lead person and/or the Manufacturing Manager in our Reno, NV manufacturing facility.

Organization and Position Summary:

• The primary responsibilities of the Assembler are assembling and testing valves, solving problems, and repairing assembly work orders to conform to all applicable specifications.

Major Responsibilities

• Accurately perform work per assembly procedures, work instructions, sales order special instructions, and any other procedures or instructions required in work orders.
• Demonstrate knowledge of production inventory management such as proper handling of scrap, questionable parts, and parts presentation on line, parts not available on line, identifying parts and parts inventory discrepancies.
• Interpret Bill of Materials, Drawings and Diagrams.
• Verify all part numbers, heat numbers and match correct numbers to sales orders. Perform limited welding and/or soldering, where applicable.
• Cut, shape, plane, and fit liners or interior of valves.
• Perform special cleaning, deburrring, and grinding of parts
• Polishing, drill and tap threaded holes.
• Perform simple dimensional measurements.
• Operate overhead bridge and jib style cranes safely and effectively.
• Must use both powered and non-powered cranes to lift large cumbersome components and valves.
• Assist in training of employees in the department, other departments, job classifications, or levels.
• Interact with production employees, engineering, and management in the execution of day to day job tasks.
• Demonstrate a dedicated responsibility and compliance with all safety and quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
• Perform all general shop tasks assigned by supervisor or any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Read and interpret schematics, blue prints, specifications, and procedures.
• Understand and effectively use all tools and equipment in the department.
• Forklift driver's license, if required.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Mechanically Inclined
• Capable of lifting 35lbs on a repetitive basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Capable of using crane to load/unload larger valves.
• Capable of completing documentation, filling out test tags.
• Must have an excellent attendance record.
• Capable of learning valve test requirements and detecting non-conformances.
• Work overtime as required.
