Job Description

  • [Company] Hydraulics Group has an opening for a Supply Chain Manager in the manufacturing facility located in Decatur, AL. This position is responsible for managing key Supply Chain related functions such as materials planning, scheduling and ordering activities. Responsible for negotiating and contracting for the purchase of raw materials, equipment, supplies, and services. Through the development of responsive sourcing strategies and processes, the Supply Chain Manager will help to facilitate excellence regarding, on time delivery, lead times and total cost.

Essential functions of the role include:

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of the vendor selection process to source specific commodities across SCM and sound skills in metrics applied to base supplier performance criteria for developing future buy decisions within more complex divisions / groups
  • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration with others to achieve the greatest outcomes in support of supply chain management strategic goals and initiatives
  • Integrates supply chain best practices and continuous improvement processes to support enterprise-wide strategies
  • Assists and leads buyers in developing purchasing skills and vendor management knowledge/perspectives
  • Analyzes and evaluates financial, business and/or operational undertaking by establishing profitability, financial viability or performance potentials to ensure business performance and enhance shareholder value
  • Responsible for Suppliers on time delivery, quality and cost as defined in the profit plan
  • Possesses sound knowledge of total management practices and commodities strategies for material and service purchases
  • Leads plant sales, inventory and operational planning
  • Balances and coordinates the work loads and responsibilities of the employees within the Materials Planning / Scheduling function to support Plant level metrics in the areas of Financial Performance (overtime efficiency, on-time delivery, top line sales) by leveraging lean principles and plant balance (level loading, ship ahead schedules, etc.)
  • Manages and reviews inputs (SIOP, cycle-counting, physical inventory, profit planning) and controls (min./max. levels, ROPs, lead times, etc.) of the ordering process to ensure that inventory levels (purchase parts VMI, in-transit, C-Level, consignment inventory, etc.) meet Plant, Division and Corporate expectations
  • Understand the MRP/ERP functions and rules and continuously drives for improvements in the system (usage, accuracy, compliance, etc.) and integration into the manufacturing process.
  • Collaborates with others to achieve the greatest outcomes in support of SCM strategic goals and initiatives

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements):

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain management, or engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum three years of experience in supply chain
  • Minimum one years in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with materials planning systems (MRP/ERP)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Position Criteria:

  • Thorough understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding production planning, inventory control, purchasing, logistics, stockroom operations, and shipping/receiving
  • Possesses sound knowledge and experience in successfully deploying purchasing strategies and driving cost-out
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction (Six Sigma) concepts and tool sets as they relate to Supplier Quality
  • Analytical skills- Ability to assemble financial data and perform higher level analysis (IRR, NPV, TCO, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze, identify and implement opportunities and corporate initiatives for improvement that have measurable dollar impact each year
  • Strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills necessary to converse with diverse group of stakeholders including senior management, operations and Supply Chain Management personnel.
  • SIOP – Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning
  • Negotiation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
  • Three years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • APICS certification
