Human Resources Representative

Position Description

  • This position contributes to developing, maintaining and administering Human Resources policies and processes while fostering positive employee relations in a multi-functional environment. 
  • Responsible for providing HR services, in support of 130 – 150 exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Assignment of special HEM HR projects, as assigned.
  • Administrative support for HR Manager, as needed.
  • Employee relations representative, as needed for location. Understands and ensures equitable and consistent interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures.  Guides and coaches supervisors and managers regarding policy interpretation.
  • Wage and Benefit Administration to include timely, accurate personnel database transactions for all personnel, while maintaining the integrity of the personnel database, files, and other personnel-related records.  Coordination of, and participation in, local open enrollment and wage surveys.
  • Expeditiously recruits non-exempt employees, and supports exempt recruiting, to include sourcing by working with local agencies; direct ad placement; guiding interview scheduling and non-exempt selection process; and pre-employment activities.  Coordinates the identification and selection of temporary employees as needed by the business.
  • Prepares and conducts orientations for new employees.  Counsels employees (and potential employees/applicants) on plan provisions so individuals can make informed benefit decisions.  This includes all levels of employees, including executives.
  • Promptly answers questions and counsels employees and retirees regarding benefit, insurance and savings plans (i.e. medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, retirement, profit-sharing, 401k).  Acts as a liaison between employee and insurance providers to resolve benefit-related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and maintain positive employee relations.  Individually counsels retiring employees and prepares retirement packages to ensure trouble-free retirement.  Resolves employee complaints related to health and welfare plans. 
  • Supports policies and procedures to assure location(s) is operating in accordance with applicable federal, state and local equal employment laws.  Accurately maintains required logs to ensure data is current and readily available; responds to third-party/governmental requests for data in a timely manner.
  • Works with safety personnel to efficiently coordinate workers compensation claims, health screenings, and related activities to promote the health and safety of the workforce.
  • Coordinates or participates in activities to recognize employee contributions, and contributes to community out-reach efforts.
  • May have other accountabilities and/or special projects.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience in business administration, human resources management, or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years exempt level human resources experience.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Must possess high proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and HRIS; PeopleSoft proficiency a plus.
  • Must accomplish all training requirements for this position as outlined in the training matrix.
