Reliability Engineer

Position Description

  • To help lead the maintenance department to ensure safe, efficient, reliable operation of plant processes and equipment. To supervise, schedule and coordinate project work activities for maintenance in support of the plant.  Provide technical guidance in the form of equipment and process knowledge to assist all other departments. Also provide technical guidance in the form of reliability engineering, including but not limited to, maintaining an oil analysis program, maintaining a vibration analysis program, maintaining an Infra Red analysis program, and maintaining a vessel thickness testing program. This position will also include constantly looking for ways to improve plant reliability.

Position Requirements

  • Provides assistance to the Engineering/Maintenance Manager for the proper support of the plant process equipment, utility systems, equipment, buildings and grounds at the facility.
  • Researches and makes recommendations on methods to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining all reliability related databases, including but not limited to 1) Vibration analysis database 2.) Oil analysis database 3.) Infra-Red analysis database and 4) Vessel thickness testing database.
  • Acts as a facilitator to the maintenance group in terms of initiating and training on precision maintenance tools such as but not limited to balancing training, and alignment training.  Constantly looking for new tools to make the maintenance group a more reliability based proactive work group.
  • Provides engineering assistance to production, packaging and process engineering in improving plant operational efficiencies.
  • Develops and manages various expenses and capitalized projects.  Initiates written project requests and solicits quotations from vendors/contractors.  Supervises the capital projects construction teams including the approval of people resource time and scheduling.
  • Provides assistance to the maintenance department and plant to ensure a positive safety culture exists in the facility.
  • Ensures proper communication systems are developed and practiced to assure individuals are kept well informed with pertinent, timely information necessary for the successful operation of the facility.  Communicates project activity. 
  • Assist department manager in fostering a team environment to fully support the objectives of plant operations while using various metrics to measure continuous improvement for the team performance.
