Job Description
- [Company] Minnesota Ore Operations includes two iron ore mines and processing facilities in Northern Minnesota (Minntac in Mt. Iron and Keetac in Keewatin, Minnesota).
- The following vacancy is available at the Minntac facility:
Supervisor Security and Fire
- This position reports directly to the Manager of Security and Fire. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, directing personnel activities involved in establishing, promoting, and maintaining security and property-protection programs. Specifically, the successful candidate will develop operational procedures for activities, such as fire prevention and firefighting, emergency medical services, traffic control, guarding and patrolling physical property, orienting and monitoring of personnel involved with classified information, and investigation of accidents/incidents and criminal acts. The successful candidate will confer with representatives of management to formulate policies, determine the need for programs, and coordinate a variety of initiatives. The candidate will also ensure that plant activities comply with current legislation by initiating contacts with representatives of local government, law enforcement, and firefighting agencies.
- This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in law or military enforcement, investigations, security, fire profession, or equivalent education and training that is transferable. This position also requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Fire Engineering, Fire Science, or other security/law enforcement, or fire-related degree that is transferable.
- Due to the nature of our business, our facilities operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year, which may require rotating shift work including weekends and/or holidays.
- All successful candidates must successfully pass a background check pursuant to the Maritime Transportation Security Act and the Chemical Facility Security Act, pre-employment physical examinations, and drug and alcohol screening.
