Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

• Investigate causes of quality costs & initiate corrective actions; Reduce total cost of quality; provide quality engineering technical support & guidance to workforce; Support ISO certification by conducting internal audits; Develop & maintain deviation database; Produce metrics/reports to communicate quality standards.
• Investigate causes of quality costs and initiate corrective and preventive actions. .
• Maintain a current level of knowledge of government/global specifications and regulations as it applies to the industry.
• Develop quality systems to collect, collate, monitor and provide performance feedback to production.
• Organize and conduct product, process and ISO internal audits to insure parts, components and completed machines comply with applicable specifications and regulations.
• Develop and implement procedures to be used by inspection personnel and production personnel.
• Work with vendors and sub-contractors to conduct audits verify products and processes and resolve quality issues.
• Develop and conduct training programs to increase job skill level of the inspection workforce and personnel from other functional areas, as applicable.
• Produce written reports that will effectively communicate to other functional areas the results of specific studies or other performance measurements.
• Recommend the purchase of new equipment and systems to reduce quality costs and meet the strategic business plan.
• Manage the implementation of projects related to quality as assigned.
• Utilize SPC to monitor and evaluate process capabilities and implement corrective and preventive actions, as required.

Qualifications

• At least 2 year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Strong knowledge of computers utilizing MS Office applications. Specialized training in Quality methods – ASQ certification is a plus.
• Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Specialized training in statistics, problem solving techniques and general quality discipline methods are required. The incumbent must have a good understanding of computers and knowledge of SAP business systems is desirable. Also, supervisory and interpersonal skills and experience in a heavy industry environment are highly desirable.
